Cambodia–Laos

Land

The Cambodia–Laos international boundary was delimited in vague terms while both countries were under French control around the turn of the 20th century. Since independence, there have been many small-scale disputes along the approximately 580 kilometer (360 mile) frontier, none of which have escalated into major conflicts. The most recent border dispute occurred in 2019 over the course of the Tonle Rapov River along the western stretches of the boundary. The two States have an active bilateral boundary commission that is working towards resolving all remaining areas of dispute and continuing the demarcation of the frontier.
