Estonia–Latvia

Maritime

The maritime boundary between the Republic of Estonia and the Republic of Latvia is an all-purpose maritime boundary delimiting their overlapping entitlements to territorial seas, exclusive economic zones and continental shelves. The boundary within the Gulf of Riga and Strait of Irbe is composed of a series of fifteen turning points, while the portion of the boundary in the Baltic Sea is a straight line extending from the last turning point to a tripoint with Sweden. While the 1996 Agreement between Estonia and Latvia did not establish the common boundary point with Sweden, it was followed a year later by a trilateral Agreement that did define the parties’ tripoint.
